Northerndutchesssports.com was founded in February of 2009 to help fill the void in local sports reporting when the longtime newspaper for the Red Hook and Rhinebeck area, the Gazette Advertiser, stopped publishing. Northern Dutchess Sports is dedicated to providing the most extensive, accurate and well-written coverage of high school and youth sports in the Northern Dutchess County area. It is our goal at northerndutchesssports.com to promote Red Hook and Rhinebeck High schools, their sports teams and their athletes in a positive manner.

Brian Moore is the founder of northerndutchesssports.com. He is a lifelong Red Hook resident who graduated from Red Hook High School in 1976. He attended Bard College and Hartwick College as well as the New School of Contemporary Radio. Brian began his journalism career in the 1980's when he wrote sports articles for the Gazette Advertiser. He had a five year stint at WGNY-AM, WFMN-FM and WKIP-AM radio stations as a morning and afternoon drive radio personality. While at WGNY, Brian also provided color commentary for the Newburgh Free Academy boys basketball game broadcasts. He moved to the Hudson Register Star in the 1990's before returning to the Gazette Advertiser where he garnered a New York State Press Association award for his sports photography. In total, Brian has more than 25 years of sports reporting experience.
