Raiders softball wins pair of games at Maggie O'Malley Tourney (2010-05-15)

Two pitching gems enabled the Red Hook Raiders to sweep a pair of games at Saturday's Maggie O'Malley Friendship Tournament in Rhinebeck.

Ashley A'Brial spun an eight-inning one-hitter to lead the Raiders to a 1-0 victory over Saugerties in a game that counted in the MHAL standings. Brisley followed up A'Brial's masterpiece by limiting hard-hitting Pine Plains to a pair of hits in Red Hook's 5-3 win over the Bombers.

A'Brial struck out nine Sawyers batters during her one-hitter with two other batters reaching via bases on balls.

Emily Howard was the offensive star for Red Hook. Howard scored both runs, including the game-winner while adding two basehits. Howard's eighth-inning single led to Red Hook's winning run when Howard scooted home on a wild pitch.

Abbey Velie and Jessica Murray each added two singles for the Raiders in the victory.

Brisley was nearly as good as A'Brial as she yielded only a pair of hits to the Bombers on the afternoon. Brisley's pinpoint control resulted in her not yielding and walks.

Offensively, Brisley smacked a double and drove home a run. Alex Osterhoudt clubbed a double for Red Hook during the victory.

The win lifted Red Hook's overall record to 9-8 for the season.
