Red Hook advanced to the semifinals of the Section 9, Class A softball tournament thanks to the pitching of Ashley A'Brial and some timely hitting. When the dust had cleared, the Lady Raiders had moved on by virtue of a 4-0 blanking of Wallkill on Tuesday at Wallkill.A'Brial was a tough assisgnment for Panthers batters as she roared her fastball by them all afternoon. The hard-throwing righty struck out 14 batters and walked only one to highlight her dominant effort. A'Brial only yielded three hits all game.
Emily Howard gave the Lady Raiders a 1-0 in the third inning when she slapped an basehit that brought home a run.Sarah MacHugh then helped give Red Hook an insurance tally when she singled home a run in the fifth inning.
Abbey Velie put the icing on the cake when she ripped a triple for a RBI and then scooted home when the ball got past the Panthers catcher.
MacHugh finished the day with two singles.
