Raiders boys lacrosse falls in state regional playoff game (2010-06-08)

Red Hook's boys' lacrosse team ran in to a formidable foe during Tuesday's Class C regional semifinal at Faller Field at Middletown High School and the end result was a 15-2 loss to Putnam Valley of Section 1.

Putnam Valley tallied the first goal of the game but the raiders quickly tied the contest when Zack Gilman took a pass from Mike Ross and sent a shot in to the back of the net.

From that point on, the Tigers were in complete control of Red Hook and the game's outcome. The Raiders, one of the best teams in Section 9 in only its fourth year of existence, had no answers for the multi-pronged Putnam Valley attack.

Onam Guerra, an eighth-grader, racked up the final Red Hook goal.

Red Hook was outshot by a 42-9 margin. Raiders goalie Austin Loeffel made a whopping 27 saves in a stellar effort in goal for the locals.

Red Hook finishes the season with their third straight Section 9, Class C title in the bag and a fantastic record of 12-5-1 overall.
