Michie and Boucher earn tops honors in MHAL all-star voting (2010-06-22)

Megan Michie garnered the Pitcher of the Year Award and her coach, Steve Boucher, picked up the Coach of the Year award when the Mid-Hudson Athletic League selected its all-stars recently.

Michie had another stellar year on the mound to help lead the Hawks to their second consecutive New York State championship for Class C. The junior compiled a 20-6 pitching mark and allowed less than a run per contest. Michie whiffed 330 batters on the season.

Most coaches aspire to even get to the state championships during their career and Boucher has led his Hawks to an pair of crowns. His expert molding of the team in to a cohesive, defensively solid unit that manufactures runs and makes opponents pay for their defensive lapses has resulted in the sport's ultimate goal twice. Sprinkle in Michie and the Hawks did something no other local team had ever done at states, repeat as state champions.

Becky Ferry of Rhinebeck was picked as the first team catcher with teammate Karen Kirker getting the nod as an infielder. The Hawks duo were two of the MHAL's biggest hitters. Another Rhinebeck standout, Amy Mandigo, was a second team pick as an outfielder.

Red Hook had two players selected to the second team. Ashley A'Brial got the nod as a pitcher with Emily Howard earning a slot in the infield.
