The Hawks played their way in to the Mid-Hudson Athletic League championship game by virtue of a 6-3 come-from-behind victory over Pine Plains on Thursday afternoon.
Megan Michie stymied the Bombers batters all day long as she struck out 15 and didn't walk a batter while issuing only four hits to the normally heavy-hitting Pine Plains squad.
Pine Plains tallied a trio of runs in the first inning as the Hawks had trouble getting a handle on the ball. Three Rhinebeck errors aided the Bombers cause.
The Hawks wasted little time responding as a double by Becky Ferry and a single by Karen Kirker brought two runs home. Rhinebeck tied the game in the fourth inning when a run crossed the plate on a wild pitch.
Another Bombers error gave Rhinebeck the 4-3 lead before Paige Albano gave the Hawks some breathing room by walloping a double that knocked home two runs. Michie retired the final 13 batters of the contest to secure the victory.
Albano finished the afternoon with two hits. Amy Mandigo, Michie, Candace Bernitt, Heather Hanaburgh and Olivia Rogine also collected hits for the winners.
