Rhinebeck's Ainslee Cunningham and Louis Berger along with Red Hook's Erin McGovern and Adam Snyder earn MHAL scholar athlete of the year awards (2010-06-22)

Every year the Mid-Hudson Athletic League selects its male and female Scholar Athletes of the Year with a boy and girl being named from each school. Ainslee Cunningham and Louis Berger were named from Rhinebeck with Erin McGovern and Adam Snyder earning the honors from Red Hook. Ainslee Cunningham ranked third in her class at Rhinebeck for her academic career. On the playing fields, Cunningham was the starting goalie for the Hawks soccer team for five seasons as well as competing in track and crew. Cunningham will start her studies in chemistry beginning this fall at the University of Rochester.

Louis Berger was fourth in this year's graduating class at Rhinebeck. Berger was a standout golfer for the Hawks as well as a two-year veteran of the baseball team. He also played hoop for the Hawks during his senior year. Berger will be attending Clemson University where he will be enrolled in a pre-professional health studies program.

Erin McGovern was 25th in her class at Red Hook. She excelled in the classroom and as a runner for the raiders. She ran track four years and was a three-year member of the cross country team. McGovern was the President of the National Honor Society. She will be attending Binhamton University in fall where she will major in international relations.

Adam Snyder ranked fifth in this year's Red Hook senior class. Snyder was captain of both the cross country and track teams and competed in both sports at the varsity level for four years at Red Hook. He will be attending the University of Illinois to study physics.
